Hi everyone :)

I have an Aluminum MacBook 5,1 that never wakes up properly. When I try to wake it from sleep, the screen is either black, black with white bars or lines, or white that fades to black.

I can use my MacBook with no issue, for as long as I want, as long as I don't put it to sleep. There are no other graphics issues whatsoever.

I've been making the machine hibernate instead of sleep and it has been working. Of course its just really slow waking from hibernation.

Has anyone ever had this issue or does anyone know how to fix it? I have tried resetting NVRAM/SMC, replacing the HDD, and I have verified that I have the latest EFI firmware/SMC firmware available.

Thanks!
