After a few weeks of intermittent functioning, yesterday my power adapter for my Macbook 5,2 (in sig) gave up the ghost and had to be replaced. Just to be on the safe side, I had a Genius confirm that it was indeed the adapter that had failed. New adapter in hand, (and US $60 lighter in my wallet), all is well.
I'm surprised, though, that the adapter died after a year-and-a-half of ownership. I baby my computers and take pretty good care of them (anal-retentive, you might say). I'm willing to chalk it up to the category of 'stuff happens', but I do know there were problems with the original Magsafe adapters. The problems were supposedly corrected by the time I bought my computer, but I was wondering if anyone else with my model has had the same issue?
I checked the google and the mroogle, but I didn't see any threads for my specific machine. Of course, if I missed them, please feel free to direct me to the appropriate links.
Thanks!
(And no, I didn't have Applecare, which would have made this all moot. Long story, but this is the only machine, including iPods, iPhones, other computers, for which I haven't purchased AC. Go figure).
