MACBOOK 6.1 Hard disk upgrade

just looking for some advice on this, I am looking to upgrade my late 2009 macbooks 250gb hard disk.

I have read that it supports up to 1TB, has anyone done this?

I am also wondering do I get a disk caddy for it and then plug it in via usb and do a format and time machine back up, then remove the original hard disk and pop the new one in and it works?

thinking of getting this hard disk,
Samsung 1TB Spinpoint M8 2.5" SATA 3Gb/s 5400RPM 8MB 9.5mm

any advice on it would be appreciated thank you in advance.

hello again,

ive used the search function and found lots of great info already posted so now know how to replace the hard disk and how to clone with ccc before doing so.

my question though is 750gb or 1TB, will the macbook recognise the 1TB?
