Of course, 2 weeks after my warrenty ended, when ever the laptop of screen hinge moves the image jumps around the screen alternating bars appear for a couple of seconds... Any guesses on what I'm dealing with and if I can fix it myself?

Cheers!

I've done it. It's not easy. Reconnecting the connector on the LCD itself is the hardest part.

I only did it because I was given a water damaged 2010 MacBook. I took it apart and the display still wouldn't work. Then I took the display apart, cleaned corrosion off the contacts, and put it back together. Voila! It worked! I would recommend giving it a try.

Seems to be a few hours job minimum, when I looked at iFixit there are a lot of steps.
Yours got water damage, this one seems to be a bad connector cable.
