Macbook 64 bit kext = No

In order to run the latest XCode, It looks like I will have to upgrade my Macbook (i.e replace it) as it cannot boot 64 bit and consequently will not upgrade to Mountain Lion.

<code> ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree </code>

returns EFI32
My question is, if I could get hold of the relevant material, would it upgrade to LIon?
