Hey,

I own a 7,1 MacBook.
Here are the specs:

2.4ghz Core 2 Duo
Nvidea Geforce 320m
250gb 5400rpm HDD
4gb 1067Mhz DDR3

I'm trying to get the best performance and lifetime out of it as I can. I'm going to upgrade the ram to 8gb or is it not worth it? I often find myself with a lot of different programs open at once. So I thought this would help with the Multitasking side.

Another thing I'm looking into is an SSD, no smaller than 256gb. I transfer a lot of large files around and open a lot applications and sizey documents. This is the one I've found: http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=DC65C8B7A5CA7304.

Will this do the job nicely or are the others that are considerably faster? I don't really want to spend anymore than about £360.

Thanks,
TwoScoops.

An SSD would make it way faster in terms of app loading /boot times. 8gb of ram is also a nice update, but since you already have 4gb check in activity monitor if you really need it.

If you have the money go for the ssd, those hdds are very slow.

8gigs of ram and that ssd and it's as fast as it will ever get.
