As the title indicates, my macbook is hovering from 75-80 degrees @4500rpm, with NO applications running.

I go on facebook, and I'm at ~6000rpm, pushing >70 degrees. This is a recent problem as I would play Starcraft 2 (june 7th last game record), with 5800 rpm, and hover around 65 degrees.

The odd thing is, On start-up, sometimes, it would say the PC is at 80 degrees when the shell is very cold; however, the laptop then proceeds to rapidly heat up.

What is going on here?

On a second note, how do you get the battery out? I pulled the plastic tab and it broke off. Very concerned to pry it out.

Thank you

Have a look at Activity Monitor (Applications > Utilities) and select Show All Processes and sort by CPU to see what the culprit may be.

image below uses sorting by CPU as an example

Again, select Show All Processes and sort by CPU to see what the culprit may be.

To know what I mean by that, look at the image above.

And again, the above image shows how to select Show All Processes and sort by CPU to see what the culprit may be.

Nothing unusual, aside from seeing ~20 applications, yet, 53 are running?

She currently at 78 degrees, 3100rpm
