Macbook 8x superdrive - ? 16x media okay ?

Real quick question.
I've got a late 2007 macbook (2.2ghz) with the 8x superdrive. Anyone know if it will work well with 16x DVD+R media (not dual layer)? I noticed that package of the DVD media stated some drives may need firmware upgrades to properly burn to this media. I'm not planning on burning faster than 8x.

Yes, it'll just work at only 8x that's all.

16x is the maximum speed at which that media can be recorded. It should work fine, just at the 8x of the MacBook's drive.

I remembered having to upgrade the firmware on a 4x dvd burner on my pc to handle 8x media in the past. Wanted to make sure that was not the case with the mac.
