I was recently given a macbook (picture attached) I used it for some weeks before one day I put the machine on and I was greeted with a grey screen with a spinning mac progress wheel, for a few seconds then the machine will go off. I tried booting to safe mode, but no luck. I read else where online that I can boot to a recovery partition by pressing the option or alt key at boot. it will load a screen with a drive and an arrow. when I click anywhere it will continue as I said before, then the machine will shutdown again. I tried to booting from a bootable USB to boot that I created with an application I downloaded off the net called "TransMac". When I press "C" still no luck. any help will be greatly appreciated

Turn the machine on, then immediately press and hold the command-V buttons until you see the white text. What line does it get stuck on or repeat endlessly?
