Hi
Can anyone help me please, i just bought a macbook pro today and want to know more about caring for the battery.
Firstly is it ok to shutdown the laptop after every use? or should I put it on standby.
Also is it best to shut it down over night or leave it on standby.

You can put it to sleep or shut it down. It really won't make any difference. The battery should not need any real care other than perhaps a battery calibration.

I recommend you to sleep it and once in a week, reboot or shut it down for night

You can keep track of how your battery is by using coconutBattery
I personally do the same as said above and my battery is 10 months old and at 95% capacity which is pretty decent. My last laptop (HP Pavilion) went from 2hr to 1hr battery life in about 8 months

The best way to ensure your battery has a healthy life is to make sure you use it often. You just don't want to leave the computer plugged to an outlet 90% of the time. Keeping the battery's juices flowing is the name of the game
