Hey everyone,
I'm seriously considering picking up an 11" MacBook Air. I currently have a "new" iPad (16GB Wifi) which I love, but I find sometimes I want a traditional laptop for typing, as well as for running Garageband (I typically do most of my Garageband work on the iPad then bring it onto the Mac for fine-tuning). I wouldn't be using this machine as my 'main' computer, as I have a (summer 2011) iMac for that. This would strictly be a second machine that I use on the go.
I've been highly attracted to this http://store.apple.com/tw/product/FC969TA/A :
MacBook Air 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 Refurbished
Originally launched in July 2011
11.6-inch (diagonal) high-resolution LED-backlit glossy widescreen
4GB memory
128GB flash storage space
Thunderbolt port support up to 2560 x 1600 resolution
FaceTime camera
Intel HD the Graphics 3000
Which is only NT$26,900, a full NT$8000 (about $270 USD) cheaper than the current MacBook:
11-inch: 128GB
1.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
Turbo Boost up to 2.6GHz
4GB memory
128GB flash storage
Intel HD the Graphics 4000
AFAIK, all the extra NT$8000 would get me is USB 3.0, a slightly faster processor and a beefier graphics chip. I have no qualms about buying refurbished from Apple - I've done so many times in the past and never had a problem. But are there any significant drawbacks I'm overlooking here? It seems like the refurbished model is the better deal.
