Guys - I can't find specs for the newly released Air 15 anywhere. Does anybody have total nits and readability outdoors? I do tend to work outside when the weather is nice and want to compare against MPro 14 & 16. I'm transplanting from Windows (Dell HW)

Thanks

so far i can only find 60hz lcd, so i doubt it will have any of the screen quality and nits of the mini led on the pro models.

On the Macbook pro, can you get to 1000 nits with just general usage like web browsing? I read it's only available when viewing HDR content

The specs are on this page: https://www.apple.com/macbook-air-13-and-15-m2/specs/

I was a bit disappointed to find it has a lower resolution than the 14" MacBook Pro.

If you're going to be working outside you're probably best with the 14"/16" MacBook Pro with the aforementioned hack that increases the standard brightness beyond 500 nits. Either that or the HP Dragonfly Pro Chromebook (which also has very high brightness of 1,200 nits).

Despite the lower resolution, any chance the "more space" looks-like display setting on the 15 will allow for more screen real estate?
I have the pro14 and it's just a bit cramped, and I returned the 16 because it was too chonky. air15 looks perfect for me, if not for the resolution.

I'm sure it will, the resolution is basically the same as the old Intel 15" MacBook Pros with extra vertical pixels for the notch (2880x1800 for Intel vs 2880x1864 for M2).

I ran my 15" Retina MacBook Pros on a "more space" setting (equivalent to 1680x1080) all the time. The 14" MacBook Pros run at a 1512x982 pixel-doubled resolution, so the 15" Air should feel like a bigger workspace. It will just be less sharp since it's interpolated and not perfectly pixel-doubled.

indeed, but the "more space" setting on the Pro 14 is already actually 1800 x 1169.

I also previously had a MBP15 and it 'felt' like I had more(enough) real estate, but I'm obviously mistaken. I must just be using it differently now so that it feels cramped. 🤷‍♂️

I would give up sharpness for more real estate.

More space on 13" M2 Air = 1710x1112 desktop, so it tracks the 15" will probably afford a bit more desktop space than the 14" despite the significantly lower DPI.
