So my spacebar stopped working, and I took it off using a chip. NO damage has been done to the spacebar, all the hinges and hooks are in place. However, it has been impossible to put it back. The laptop was a gift and I do not have a receipt, I got it in early 2019. I checked for coverage online and the technical support has expired and consumer laws don't apply to me as the laptop was bought in another country. What are my options here? If the key is still intact, can I ask them to put it back for free? What is the best and worst-case scenario?

Assuming this is a 2019 Air, your keyboard is warranted for four years from the date of purchase. Take it to an Apple store and I'm sure they will help you out with little to no cost. Just tell them the spacebar was defective and you tried to fix it yourself and couldn't get the key back on. They might even have a tech on-site that can do it for you while you wait.

Edit: don't get the 1932 reference in your title.

This is probably the 2018 Air, since the 2019 was released later in the summer. The 4 year keyboard replacement program would apply either way.
