My trackpad is really laggy and slow which means I can't use the trackpad to do what I want efficiently. I don't have Applecare protection because I didn't get it the laptop till after the warranty had run out. Does anyone know what options I have to sort this issue out?

Well, first, did you check your trackpad options panel? It could be that the tracking speed is too slow.

If that doesn't work, can you turn off your mac, and wipe the trackpad surface with a microfiber cloth? Maybe its dirty and just needs a bit of a clean. Maybe use a keyboard cleaner on the glass too. While you're at it, maybe you could wipe the keys a bit too. Just be careful not to pop them out.

Finally, can you tell me when this started happening? Can you tie this to any particular event? (IE bumped my mac against the table, installed software update, etc).

Apologies for the delay. It's working well now. Looked like the sensitivity was too high.
