MacBook Air 2012 temperature/heat

I just got my 13" MacBook Air 2012 with 8gb of RAM and I have noticed my Mac gets really hot when watching a show like Burn Notice or How I Met Your Mother. At sometimes the 2 CPUs and hyper threading CPUs it goes to 99 degrees and the fans kick up to like 5000 RPM. Is this normal? I watch my movies on the bed and that happens so I place a book underneath for the fans to breath and the average CPU temperature drops to like 85 degrees. Btw, what's your average temperature for like surfing webs and stuff? How hot does your Mac get when playing games? Does high temperatures like 99 degrees spoil my Mac?
