MacBook Air (2017) to USB-C monitor?

I've been searching for an adapter that will allow me to use my Thunderbolt 2 port (Mini DisplayPort compatible) to connect to an portable USB-C monitor (AOC makes a 1080p IPS model that has received great reviews). Everything I find is geared to adapting older peripherals to the USB-C compatible ports on newer Mac notebooks.

Any one know of anything that would work?
