Hello everybody. I have a MacBook Air 2019, and I've recently purchased new headphones (Senheisser HD 599). These sound fantastic, but I have noticed that the 3.5mm jack input of the MBA is of considerably lower volume and punch than the 3,5mm input present on my iMac late 2013. For comparison sake, the MBA sound similar to my iPad Air 2 jack input.

These headphones have an impedance of 50 ohms, which should be enough for a modern laptop/tablet.

Is something wrong with the jack input of the MBA or this is the expected behavior and I need an external DAC to use them properly with the laptop?

Thank you in advance.

If they have an inline mic on the cable it could be limiting the volume. My MacBook Pro 2012 does that. I think it thinks you are using tiny in-ears so lowers the volume, if I use the same headphones with a cable without the mic I get full volume.
