MacBook Air 2019 win mail.dat problems

I’m using outlook on my macbook air 2019, when sending attachments to other mac or windows users they arrive as winmail.dat



This never happened when using outlook on my older macbook air.



My email account is using microsoft exchange and both my iphone pro max and macbook air 2019 sync emails.



How do I stop the above happening and just simply, if say I send a pdf attachment then it should arrive as one, thanks, Chris.

I found this googling:

"to solve this problem, you have to manually type the e-mail address of recipient instead of select from Address Book."

and someone else said:

"This solved my problem for Outlook 2016. I actually deleted the recipient contact and recreated it and it now works perfectly."

so might be worth a try...
