So... slightly concerning.

I'm on 53 cycles and down to 89% battery health inside of 4 months.

Is anyone else seeing this sort of deterioration with their 2020 Airs?

For comparison, my 2015 13" Pro still has battery health in the high 80s....

I've had battery health management turned on since purchase.

edit:
to be fair, the lowest it has ever been drained to is likely 35% or so, so it could just be the battery health thing reducing max charge to prevent wear. I'll run it on battery down to flat a few times and see if it re-learns and gives me back capacity...

Have you also noticed a drop in actual running time? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

I didn't think you were supposed to/needed to calibrate batteries in that way anymore by running them down etc?

That’s quite unusual. Have you ever put the laptop in extreme high temp? Especially when it’s around 90-100% charge?
Also, it’s useful to get battery’s production date. I use Sensei app to check that.

build date jan 2020

Never been in extreme heat.

Same usage patterns as my 2015 which has 88 percent last I checked.

I think the battery health management is playing a role in these low battery health readings, you'll see a lot of users report these low readings on their 2019 MBP 15", 2020 MBP 13" and Airs, and I've noticed the same

yeah I suspect it’s deliberately limiting charge because it has learned I don’t use battery much.

it’s not the old battery calibration thing. I think it’s the new battery health implementation like you said.

Apple even states that battery management feature can trigger "service your battery" message ahead of time. So it will think that it degraded, but it is rather limited.
