My MacBook keeps freezing after waking it up (opening lid). I have to force shut down in order to get it back running.

The issue happened before the current update so I updated the Mac OS and the problem happens more often now.

i have the MacBook Air 2020 i5/8GB/512gb model

Do you have anything plugged in to the USB-C port? More specifically, a USB dock?

Me too. Same problem. I have the MacBook Air 2020 i5/8GB/256gb model. Did you find a solution?
Sometimes I have a USB dock plugged in and sometimes I don't. It doesn't make a difference.

I have started getting a blank screen sometimes when I wake/ open the screen. I've found pressing the touch ID button (no holding down) wakes it up. I have it set up for my Apple Watches to unlock it. My theory is the unlock is getting stalled coming out of sleep so pressing the Touch ID moves it along? Just a theory.

No, that doesn't work for me. I have to do a hard reboot every time.

Mine also keeps shutting down when when going into sleep mode. Have to open laptop up wait for it to load to login again. Mine is plugged into a dock.

I had this issue in the last version but found disconnecting from the USB dock solved it. I've not tried it on Big Sur yet as it is literally the case if I walk off for a bit and it goes into sleep mode it will crash.

I think I'll cut my losses and just sell it. For the purchase price, nobody should have to deal with these inconveniences.

FYI, I had the issue where my Mac mini would restart every time the computer went to sleep when connected to the USB c monitor Dell u2720q In Mojave. It was actually solved by upgrading to Big Sur.

Interesting. It seems since upgrading to Big Sur it has made the issue worse.

I'm debating whether I should buy another USB dock incase that is the issue.

Powered down again after leaving it for about 20 minutes. Will no longer connect to the USB dock at all. I get an error message come up saying "Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices." The Macbook will continue to flick until you remove the USB C which is for the dock.

I am not expert. But, to confirm, is the MacBook using the correct size power cord/connection?

Hmm, I wonder if resetting to factory would help. Merely reaching here. But, you never know...

PS: I just finished setting up a MBA (Early 2015), with Big Sur. Doesn't feel the faster in the World.
Now working on trying to get my Outlook.com Contacts to work on the MBA.
