MacBook Air A1369 LCD

Hi,

I have an Air that needs a new lcd screen but I don't know what the original resolution of the Air was (1280x800 or 1440x900). I've found a few replacements online but I'm a little confused with the types of resolutions and which one fits mine. When there is a difference of a few hundred of dollars between a 1280x800 and a 1440x900 I would like to know the main differences before I buy.

Of course I understand the obvious difference of resolution but surely that can't be the only difference? For example, if i buy the 1280x800 and my original screen was a 1440x900 would it work?

I found that site when trying to look up details on the air and found that it has a "1440x900 native resolution". What I couldn't figure out what would a 1280x800 screen work or does it have to be 1440x900. The suppliers stock the lcd as a1369 compatible but I'm not so sure is this true.

Any ideas?

I would talk to the suppliers. If they list it as compatible then it "really should" run 1440 x 900 out of the box.

Are you doing this replacement yourself? Have you done similar things before?

Ah I've replaced many LCD screens before but this is the first macbook air I've tried to replace, hence the need for bit of research before upwards of $600 is spent! I may just be overcomplicating the whole issue but Apple being Apple always seem to surprise me when I least expect it. I'm still trying to get over the $600 price tag on a screen!
