My Macbook Air was working powered by 61W type C adapter but when I powered it with a 87W type C adapter the laptop did not power on.
I later connected with 61W but laptop didn't come on, only makes a soft klicking sound. I opened the back cover and I noticed an LED was ON in the second picture attached when the adapter was connected.
I will appreciate your help guys.

The charger is innocent. Try Apple’s recovery steps. Go down the list of actions as far as it takes. I suspect the SMC reset might be the step that gets it working for you.
