Just a friendly post incase some of you didn't know this. I love wireless everything. I hate hooking stuff up to tv's and all that....I just got a new MacBook Air 2020 after not having a Mac for a couple years. My last one was a 2015 MacBook. I love watching movies from my computer to a tv, and I always had to hook it up to my tv to have a good experience. Used a wireless mouse and keyboard, etc.
I had never really played around with Plex. So, I downloaded the Plex server on my computer and Plex on my Apple TV. I know I can hook up a hard drive or use a NAS, but I'm just not interested in all of that. So, I have a few movies on my Air and wanted to see how easy it would be to stream it to the Apple TV. Low and behold as long as the Plex server is running, I can close my MacBook and sit it to the side, and stream it wirelessly to the Apple TV. Don't have to hook up anything or buy any software to keep my MacBook running with the lid closed. Which I had seen a lot of people had done. As long as it's connect to AC power, it will work, but if you unplug the power, it no longer works.
May not seem like a big deal, but it works perfectly for me and streams perfectly to the Apple TV. Excellent picture and sound with no hiccups. Don't know if anybody else on here does this, or has another way of doing it, but this has been the most simple process I've ever tired in the last ten years.....I'm curious if this works on older Macs or just newer ones. BTW, absolutely loving the new new Air. Also found a website that's gonna pay $200 for my broken MacBook. Most places only offer a few bucks. Pretty sure the logic board fried or the graphics chip. The screen went crazy with lines and the speaker made a horrible sound, and it never worked again. Was gonna cost over $400 to get fixed, and then maybe another problem arise, so I just sent it off in the mail.
Thanks for listening!
