Can anyone tell from the pics or does anyone know if the battery on the MBA is soldered to the mainboard? I was thinking if it is not soldered all a company has todo is release a replacement bottom cover for the MBA. Screw the new cover on, it has a door that can open and you switch the battery in and out. I know its a stretch but it could work if its not soldered in :)

I spoke to a tech at the Apple store last night. From what he had been told the battery was replaceable, but only by Apple techs, although they should be able to do it at the Apple stores in 48 hours if the user doesn't want to send it in.

There isn't a chance in hell its soldered. They don't even solder iPod batteries and having done so would just add to labor they would have to pay someone to fix it at their repair centers. No, its a small plug just like on the ipods.

My friends...The battery connector...

and a bit closer minus the cable...

Ouch 48 hours... I thought it would be quicker than that. Was hoping for a few hour turn around if one booked it in... Hm guess we will have to wait and see how that goes...
