MacBook Air can not finish update

Hi guys, need your help

My macBook Air 2014 works well with Yosemite and yesterday I tried to update it to last EL Capitan. It freeze at last 2-5mm of horisontal indicator. I tried to reboot after 3 hours waiting, but it did not help.

Then I tried to reinstall MacOS from recovery mode without formatting the disk. Same thing, on last step it freeze.

Also tried boot in single user mode and "fsck -fy" twice. And tried "first aid" disk utility. Did not help too.

I know that clean install would be better but I need to save a data from macbook before.

Your SSD may have errors which is why it's freezing during the update. If your MBA is working OK with Yosemite, make a backup with Time Machine or cloning software (CCC or SuperDuper) before attempting a clean install. That way you won't lose data.

Now it can not boot. So I can not boot into Yosemite. I found that it can be issue with kexts. But I can not delete it from single-user mode.

Try booting to Recovery by holding down the Command + R keys as soon as you hear the boot chime. If it goes into Recovery OK, try to make a backup from there before attempting any repairs.

I had a similar problem installing the most recent upgrade. Finally decided the easiest route was to reformat the drive, reinstall El Cap, then restore everything from my backup. All running fine now.

I resolved this issue. Bought a new external drive, then installed there an OS X and, boot, rename /System/Library/Extensions to Externsions_bkp and disconnect external drive. Then re-installed OSX to internail drive (above). Now it works well.
