So, recently I cracked my MBA's screen, how? I do not know, and decided that since I am out of warranty, I would tackle this job myself, I watched the Ifixit video about a dozen times. My question is, once I removed my old display assembly and went to install the new one panic set in and I realized the seller sent me an the mid 2012 display instead of mid 2013, to my name eye, the only plug that doesn't work is the iSight camera connector is a lot shorter and smaller on the 2012 version, so I decided to proceed with the install and just forgo the use of my camera in the short term.

My question is, is there any harmful reason I shouldn't continue using this display, besides the fact that I can't use my iSight camera?

Thanks

There should be no harm caused by disconnected camera module. More importantly, I would be certain the LCD panels are the same... or at least the pins are the same. I think they are but better to check first. Also, make sure the LVDS connector is in correctly: white dot faces down (it is possible to jam it in the wrong way and this will destroy many things if powered on). If it were me, I'd return incorrect part. Those assemblies are super expensive.

Everything is working fine - and connected fine, minus the camera connector, but yeah it was like $375 from Amazon- so ill most likely just return it, I was just trying to avoid the project all over again.

I think it is better to start with the correct parts. I do not understand the reason why MBA LCDs are so expensive (more expensive than larger retina LCDs!) but after shelling out for a premium part, I would want to have it "correct" and would feel better knowing the job is done right.

If it makes you feel better, replacing just the LCD is a vastly more difficult repair.

Yeah which is why I skipped right over that and just bought the whole display, but thank you, you convinced me to send this one back and order the correct part
