Hi there people!

Well, I have an early iMac, model iMac8,1, serial number QP8392UPZE3, that came with a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-875 SuperDrive. Thist drive is no longer capable of recording DVDs. So I thought about replacing it with a Apple MacBook Air SuperDrive. Is it possible? Is this external SuperDrive compatible with desktop Macs?

Thanks for your support,
Daniel Bittar.

Why not just get a replacement SuperDrive for the iMac 8,1 that way you know it fits and that it was designed for the iMac 8,1? Your other option could be to to install a Blu-ray drive instead of a SuperDrive.
