Hey all. A friend of mine bought an '08 MacBook Air today, but the seller didn't restore it. We decided to format it and reinstall OS X. The problem is, when I boot the Mac into the Leopard disc, it gives me an error saying something along the lines of "Unable to install OS X on this computer".

Any suggestions? I've never encountered this sort of problem before, at least not with my MacBook Pro.

Firmware must of been updated.. Once that is done you wont be able to install an older version of the OS that came with it.. ( thats what APPLE told me) You will have to purchase LION then you should not see that ERROR! Once you update to a NEWER Firmware you cant go back! I ordered a Macbook from Apple last week, that system came with SNOW Leopard and being they updated firmware it wouldnt allow me to install Snow Leopard. Got the SAME error you got! So being it was shipped with Lion and updated firmware I was forced to KEEP LION! Hope this helps!
