The apple website says "Mercury-free LCD display with arsenic-free glass"

so im assuming there is a thin piece of glass over a matte display like the alum iMac's, instead of the crappy "glossy coating" on the MacBook...

... this would be awesome considering the iMac glare is way better than the horrible glare of the MacBook..... but i really wish these things came in Matte,, uhg!

anyways can anyone confirm this?

ah, boo

o well i hope the screen is as clear as the last gen MacBooks then...

i had bought a Black Book (late 2007) and that screen sucked compaired to my friends older MB

The MBA doesn't have an LCD screen - it's TFT LED.
The LED screens are also LCD. The only difference is that the backlight is provided by LED instead of a fluorescent tube.

I guess I wasn't clear - I was getting at the fact that the screens are different and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the brightness, contrast ratio and colour repro.

I guessed that saying 'TFT LED' would make clear it is still LCD.

Brightness will be the same as the MBP, since they both feature LED back-lit methods. Colour will be the same as the MB/P if the display is 6bit (I can't find much information on the MBA screen).

I thought nearly all laptop LCD screens would be TFT/active matrix nowadays anyway..?
