Is there a way to set up your iMessenger through your phone number instead of your email address?

When I use iMessenger on my Mac, it shows my Apple ID instead of my number and when I reply through my phone, it uses my phone number. I think it confuses some people.

EDIT: Change settings inside iPhone, restart iPhone, go back into iMessage settings on Mac.

Why do I even bother making threads? I keep fixing my own issues. LOL!
