went to turn on the MBA. Flat battery. Plugged in the charger. 2hrs later it’s still showing the charging symbol but won’t turn on.

See attached shot of the screen. Been like that for nearly 3hrs now.

Any ideas?

MBA Intel 2020 model.

  • Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then try to start it.
  • if this doesn’t work:
  • Press and hold the right Shift key, the left Option key, and the left Control key for 7 seconds.
  • Keep holding all these three keys and hold the Power button for another 7 seconds.
  • Release all the keys and wait a few seconds. Now try to start your MacBook.

Sounds like your charger maybe broken, if you’re anywhere near an Apple store I’d take it in with your Mac and test another charger.

Thanks.

I tried this. All it did was to briefly light up the screen with the battery symbol and the power connection symbol then went black again.

Now it's not responding at all.

The Macbook was on the charger overnight.

I'll keep looking.

Thing is, the closest Apple Store is 2 hours away and I have to book an appointment. So, I don't know when I'll get in to see about it being fixed or replaced, if the unit has karked itself.

Update. I didn't give full info in first post.

The MBA was fully charged when I last used it two weeks ago. I set it up yesterday in my studio and turned it on. The log in screen came up. I went out to do something. Came back to find the screen black. Pressed the space bar to wake it up. Nothing. Pressed the power button. Nothing. Closed the screen, opened it up, and then I saw the screen as shown in the attachment above.

And it's from that point that it won't start.

All good to go. Have set up the camera tethered to the MBA using the EOS Utility. Will be practising a fair bit before we're ready to start our Christmas Family Photos.
