Hi, I've got an old 2012 MacBook Air 11" with a battery in poor health (full charge lasts about an 45 mins to an hour). The battery has been like this for a year or so now. This may be the cause of the following problem but I'm not sure.

Just today it's developed an issue where it will randomly turn off and then turn on again a few minutes later. When it does turn on, it returns immediately to the screen that was previously shown (no login page). So it doesn't seem to shut down.

As well as this issue, I also have a problem where there is intermittently a dark verticle band down the center of the screen (I assume a fault connection somewhere).

At first I thought the two problems were connected, that it was just the screen turning off. But when I played music and the laptop turned off, everything stopped. So I'm not really sure what the issue is.

Thanks.
