Hello!

I'm about to order the new Macbook Air (16GB RAM and 7 core CPU) and there is just one last question nagging me:
When I connect 1 external WHQL display for long times, will it get warm or will the display have a great impact to the Macbooks performance? Should I get a base Pro model with 8 GB RAM instead?

What's a WHQL display? You mean WQHD? Should work without issues. I only have the MacBook Pro but it doesn't get any warmer when hooked to my QHD screen. Fan is not running so should be the same for the Air. As for performance, I haven't noticed any changes while working with it. Runs just as smooth as the internal screen even at 75Hz.

I have Macbook Air M1 base model and it works perfectly with my 4K monitor over usb-c, no performance issues and the laptop never gets hot.

8/512 Model and mine doesn't exhibit any difference in temp when the 5k LG is connected.

My M1 MacBook Air doesn't get warm but it does have some issues with my 24" 4K LG 24UH58B monitor. It works fine with a USB-C to HDMI adapter but mostly doesn't work with a USB-C to Display Port cable. The cable is good. It actually works sometimes if I fiddle around with the HDMI and back to DP. I think Apple still has some issues with their display drivers.

Do you have the 7 core or 8 core GPU version?
