Hey, i am planning to replace my iPad Mini 5 (sold) for a Macbook Air M1
My last Macbook Air was from Haswell (2013), at this time, same ''hype'' about Macbook Air amazing battery life BUT i never found it quite good for my usage (i had Macbook Air 11 Haswell which was rated at 10 hours of battery life)
Dont get me wrong, at this time, it was pretty solid but not as good as i would expect

My concern is about battery life at idle, i want to use it as secondary device/iPad like such as:
  • Web browsing, mail
  • Streaming movies (Netflix, Plex, NAS)
  • Youtube
I might use it for hours just for my kind of usage and wont touch it the next days, i m worried about battery life drain at idle
Can it last as long as iPad which have remarkable battery life when it comes about drain at idle
For the record, my iPad Mini 5 last around a week of usage (8 hours of SOT)
Can i expect same without charging Macbook Air?

Thanks

It all depends on screen brightness, whether you have other apps running in the background, whether you are on Wifi or Ethernet etc. There is no way for anyone here to definitively say you will get x amount of SoT with each use. It will vary.

The M1 does have excellent standby ability a lot of the time.

Yes it is compostable to iPad battery life. I also have a 11" MBA and there is no comparison. The 4 efficient vores makes a tremendous difference on idle battery life.
