Hi, I’ve MacBook M1 just 3 months old and used for 50 cycles. while browsing on internet ; I went to fetch a cup of tea and came back ; while I thought my screen went blank as I left it un used for a minute, I tried clicking track pad but it was frozen, then I clicked keyboard or powerbutton but nothing worked, it seemed like my MacBook just died.
I called apple support, they were not able to figure out what went wrong, I don’t use any external usb hub and have never used any other device on my Mac
According to them there might be some issue with battery or logic board that would need to be fixed and they want to take it in for a repair.
Though I’m not in US and where I am, there’s no any authorized apple service provider (Pakistan) I’m really sad, don’t know what to do

That's not good at all. Have you tried holding down the power button when you turn it on. The M1 has a different way to do recovery. If you do that, you'll get the option to reinstall the OS or repair the disk. Try that and see what happens.

Hi, thanks for the reply, unfortunately I’ve tried almost everything but it’s like a dead machine. My Mac is as good as new physically but there’s no power, it’s neither booting up nor giving any response.
i tried connecting it with different charger or anything but nothing would work.
I think it’s probably my logic board - I’m not sure wether to get it fixed or ask for a replacement, it’s still jn 9 months of warranty

To force restarting, keep Keep pressing the touch-id button till you see the apple logo on screen.

I did everything, it’s dead.
I went to my nearest Apple certified repair shop, they said’ might have to replace the logic board.
Everything is too broad a term and not really helpful in understanding what you tried and help you.

I just had to do force restart myself recently after similar circumstances.

If your description is correct and it just happened without anyone touching it, anything physical connected and no prior fluid exposure, I find it highly unlikely to be hardware damage.

But if it is, you should still be covered by warranty.

By everything I mean, pressing the power button 10 sec. Pressing control ; option, right shift and power button for 20 seconds. Pressing P R Power button and control, apart from every other hack and trouble shooting required or guided by a apple support online.
yes, absolutely no doubt, there was no liquid spill, no drop nothing. It was working on battery at 42% and I left Mac running “didn’t even close the lid” in my room for a minute or two, came back to wake up the sleepy screen but it was dead.
trackpad froze as well, nothing was working

Good because hard for us to guess.

Again I suggest you connect the charger and keep pressing the touch-id button for like 20-30 seconds. let go and press again once to turn on. Just tested on my own.

Another option is to revive it with another Mac.

Finally contact apple to have it repaired at an authorised technician and let them deal with it. In that case, I hope you have backup of your data, if they replace your motherboard.

If they replace your motherboard I hope you have backup of all your data.

Hi, thanks again for your response, so I supposedly have a AASP at my current location, it’s not an apple store but it’s a repair shop authorized by apple (as per their email) I just came back after visiting them, the technician told me that’ there are sufficient chances that my logic board would be replaced, I’m guessing that would also include my Touch-ID as well - I did ask him about the apple configurator’ but he said, he will only do troubleshooting authorized by apple. They also said that if my battery was an issue to look into, it probably would need to be fixed in United States due to regional guidelines of lithium ion batteries according to IATA rules. the working estimate is 10 business days and I’m without a laptop for that period.

If you have someone around with a macbook with usb-c ports you can try the following:

Did this too to recover a friends macbook, no problems since.
Hope it works for you.
Thanks but this needs my Mac to atleast boot up ; it doesn’t even power up, I mean it’s like similar to using a machine without power and Battery meaning ; it’s just a metal box with internals.

No, it is exactly for fixing an unresponsive Mac. DFU mode is lower level than booting.

Unfortunately my device is already with apple authorized service provider, I’m just hoping they’ll run a diagnostic like you mentioned before catching up with hardware.
tbh, my Mac OS did had some issue in the past three days, like becoming slow to respond, some battery charge glitches as well.

This could all be just incidental and your Mac can and ready be operating at normal levels.

What I would do is wait for a set amount of time and try rebooting your Mac and if it's operating then do a full system restore.

Stuff like this happens all the time and then comes up that the machine operates tens fold better in the long run as if nothing ever happened.

Wish you well

I’ve tried almost everything and the computer is with an AASP for repair purposes. Let’s see’ what comes next. Would surely update everyone on this.
