I've currently go a MacBook Air M1, however I'd like more of a desk setup for home

I'm eying up this monitor (https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/del...2qc/apd/210-bbrq/monitors-monitor-accessories) Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it and if it's any good?

Also do I need to look at purchasing a Docking Station? I'd like to be able to connect the Air to a monitor and have the option for 2 screen with MacBook open, but also I want the option to have the MacBook closed and just use th monitor as one screen. I'd also be looking to get a wireless keyboard and mouse too (hence the thinking I might need a docking station)

I've never used a MacBook as a desk setup before, so any tips or advise is much appreciated

Just get a Studio Display. I'm in love with mine. Cannot wait to my M2 15-inch air to drive and use with it

I have purchased several Dell Monitors over the years, and promise you will be very satisfied with it. I currently use a U2720Q at the moment.

The point of the the USB-C port w/ power delivery is so that you wouldn't need a separate docking station, it is built in to the monitor. You simply use one USB-C/Thunderbolt cable to carry the display, data, and power to your MacBook Air.

One tip would be to get a longer 3rd party thunderbolt cable when you buy it; the USB-C cables typically included with monitors are typically uselessly short.

A Studio Display is literally 4 times the cost of monitor the OP is looking at. More than likely those that want to spend the money for it have already purchased it or already plan to purchase it.

Unfortunately this is out my price range, the Dell monitor I am able to get for just £240, as nice as a Studio Display looks and would be!

Cheers - have you had any issues with flickering with any of your Dell monitors? This seems to be the only negative thing I've read on them with MacBook M1 range

Zero issues so far between any of the MacBooks I've had and the Dell Monitors I've had. If anything, the Dell Monitor + MacBook has been consistently the most reliable combination so far. I also have a work provided Dell laptop, and the I've had issues with it interacting with my monitor despite both being Dell products.(And I really think the root of those issues are with the way Windows handles things through the USB-C port, not because of the monitor or laptop itself being a bad product)

With that said, I've always gone back to Dell because their monitors have the best balance of design, screen quality, build, and price.

Cheers mate, I've gone ahead and ordered the S2722QC today

One last question if you know the answer please, will I need to buy a different cable to connect my MBA M1 to this monitor? I'm a bit confused about what I've read in terms of USB and the MBA ports

Cheers

Everything you need should be included in the box. Again, the dock is built in, so you only need the single USB-C cable between the monitor and your MacBook.

With that said, I recommend buying another USB-C(Thunderbolt 3) cable as the USB-C cables that are typically included with monitors are painfully short.

I purchased this 6 foot cable off Amazon that works well so far. I'm unsure about availability in the UK, but you get the idea.
