I have a MBP 15 2017 connected to a LG 32UD99 as a second display. It is connected over USB-C, when doing so I need to plug in the MBP power connector so I can use the monitor as a second display. If I dont use the MBP power connector I can only get to charge the MBP via monitor USB-C, no more.

I would like to know if this has change with the new MBA M1. Can I use my monitor as a second display connected to a MBA M1 via USB-C only, with no power connector attached to the MBA M1. Thanks

Well, since I've got myself an MBA M1 I can already answer about this. Just in case someone else is interested, I can confirm the LG 32UD99 acts not only as a second display but it does charge up the MBA M1 when connected via USB-C. So there is no need for a power adapter plugged in. This was something I was looking for and I am very pleased to know how it worked out.

My MBA M1 specs: 8 cores/16GB RAM/512GB SSD
