Hi there! I just switched from a MacBook Pro 15 2016 to an entry-level MacBook Air and am truly amazed about the performance gains. Crazy times we live in.

I've had one compatibility issue, however. Using my old MacBook Pro, I was able to get 4k60Hz video output; using the Macbook Air, I'm not (using the same adapters, the same HDMI port on my TV, and the same cable). If I switch to another HDMI port on the TV, 4k60Hz works well.

My theory: My strange 2019 TV (Sony XG90) has two HDMI ports that are capable of 4k 60Hz HDR signals, and two that are 4k 60Hz non-HDR OR 4k 30Hz HDR (so 2x 18GB/s and 2x 12GB/s, if I'm correct). I assume that my MacBook Air prioritizes color depth over refresh rate on the limited ports. Switching high contrast mode on or off hasn't changed the available refresh rates. I dont' need a HDR signal coming from the Mac, and I need the two more capable ports for other devices.

Any ideas?
