Hi all

I have a question regarding the macbook air M1 2021 which I recently got. I bought an external monitor (MSI Optix G272 27" Full HD LED Gaming LCD Monitor - 16:9), used hub with hdmi port to connect with the macbook (Verbatim 49141 USB-C Multiport Hub - USB 3.0 | HDMI | Gigabit Ethernet), but the monitor goes off after a few seconds (black screen), on mirroring/extending and behaving as main display. Any solutions and recommendations on how to solve the problem?

Maybe an issue with the multiport hub?
I use a multi port hub that also an external SSD (have option to install ssd on it) .
Why can’t an external monitor just work without a hub? The m1 usb-c port cannot power video on its own?
Shocking when windows laptop can do that.
