I just treated myself to a LG C1 OLED TV for my Windows-PC.
Now I wanted to connect my MacBook Air M1 to the screen.

It worked... Kinda...
I get the full 4K resolution running but only 30Hz - I tried several HDMI cables (which are able to get 4K 60 without any issues). No luck.
The screen runs at 30 Hz with terrible colors, reminds me of 8bit with chroma sub-sampling.

I then purchased a HDMI to USB-C cable from satechi which advertises 4K 60Hz. Still the same.
I also tried multiple Thunderbolt 3 docks with DisplayPort and / or HDMI. Always the same.

Do I miss something here? I was able to run a normal 4K 60Hz monitor with my MacBook M1.

I have the 48" C1 and will try it with the M1X when I get it in a few weeks. Check out this thread, it's pretty extensive.https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/mbpiwy/lg_oled_gamingpc_monitor_recommended_settings/
Look into "PC Mode." I haven't done any of this yet... also,

I was able to half-fix the issue. The only "dock" or adapter that worked with that combination was the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter.

Fonts and color look normal now and I get 50Hz... Not 60 but waaaay better than 30

What Big Sur version are you on? Noticed refresh rate options no longer show when holding option and clicking on scaled on 11.6. Even without, it has a mind of its own and does sometimes change from 4k30 to 4kp60 when unplugging/replugging the dongle. Also, sometimes external display doesn't work waking from sleep. I have both j5Create and Cable Matters dongles and they both behave the same with certified 4k120 cable. The Cable Matters one I use at 4k120 on my Legion Slim 7 without issue so it's not the dongle or cable. 4k isn't viable on MBA M1 anyway unless you like laggy UI transitions.

I use my m1 air on a 4k tv all the time with a usb c to hdmi cable and its smooth. Its the intel air that struggles with 4k output
