I just got my MacBook Air M2 from my local store, and it’s wonderful!

However, I’m a bit curious—I noticed that the box says it was manufactured in 2024. Is that normal?

I thought the MacBook Air M2 was released in 2022, so I’m a little confused. Are there any differences, such as improved components or better hardware?

MBA M2 was the latest model until the M3 version came out in March 2024.

My son has an M2 and I've never seen that issue. It's an issue, several people complained about it, but Apple has sold millions of these device so it's tough to know how widespread it is.

I have a M2 that I purchased almost right after it was released. No problems so far. You have to remember that out of so many thousands of these things out there they get treated differently by different people and get exposed to different condition conditions that could cause problems. Some people treat their computers like a child treats his homework. Also, when you have large numbers, there is going to be some that fail. It’s impossible to manufacture something on a large scale without some degree of failure. I wouldn’t worry about it though

The model was released in 2022, but that doesn't mean that every single unit on the market was manufactured that year.

Yeah, I'm a little confused here. Does the OP think that Apple makes umpteen million of a product the day it's produced and then never again? Nothing at this level works that way. While Apple didn't pioneer it, they are a master of JIT (Just-In-Time) manufacturing where the goal is to hold as little inventory as possible, matching demand to manufacturing as needed to be constantly producing products for sale. You lag inventory at the front end and back end to allow transitions to different products (like this morning's MacBook Air M4).
