MacBook Air mid 2011 white fading to grey screen

My 11" MacBook Air from 2011 has always worked great but just went to open it up and the screen starts off white and then fades to grey with lines going up and down. I've tried resetting it but the same thing happens and doesn't even show the boot screen nor does it play any sounds. Any thoughts?
