I am in the market for a laptop, would love the Pro 14 but it might be more than I really need, the Air could be the right machine but there is no way at this point I am buying a machine "that old" and def near its replacement.

Apple is making it harder for me to wait, while it might be their way to "convince" me to get a pro, I feel it's really pushing me away with the purchase.

I am still lucky I am in the "want"and not "need" situation, but am I the only one feeling Apple left a little void there?

I'm right there with you. If you need a laptop now just get the base model Pro. I can wait so hopefully the Air gets updated soon

I am like, do I really wanna spend twice as much? I mean sure i get a machine that is worth, but still i might just need the Air (very likely).

I think it's a bummer.

I think the Air in the fall with M2 will start at $1199 and they will keep the M1 air around

MBA M1 is ok as is. Only update it needs is 16GB/512GB for the base $999 model and 1080p webcam.

That's the thing, you aren't spending twice as much.

MacBook Air 16/512 - 1450
MacBook Pro 16/512 - 1999

If you aren't 100% sure that the 8/256 Air is enough for your needs now and for the next several years, you actually need the 16/512 Air. The price difference is less than one cup of coffee per month over the life of the computer.

Besides, its apparent that the Air will get an update this year, even if it's just the M2 in the same body.

Well prices over here in Italy are a little steeper, so the difference is bigger, I agree the Air will have an update, but it might be near sept. I don’t know, I just wished they refreshed the Air during last keynote.

As of today, you can get a 14in MacBook Pro, 16/512, in either color, for $1750. Directly from Amazon.

Is the price not just the US price converted to Euros, with VAT added?

In the US, prices are advertised without tax added. So if something is $100, you pay $100+tax.
