Macbook Air or Macbok Pro

Ok so I joined the navy and as soon as I needed a laptop mine took a dump. I have heard nothing but good things about the MacBook's however I wanted input on which one to purchase. I am going to be using it for research here and there report writing here and there but mostly for skype to talk with family and Emailing and facebook. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Macbook air. Your uses are pretty basic and the air will run everything just fine. Not to mention they updated recently. On top of that, its much light for portability.
