We are upgrading our laptop. We have literally finally worn our old one out (2010 Pro 15"). It is not going to be our workhorse, which the old one was, as I will be upgrading to a new desktop Mac within the next few months. We will be using it for presentations. It needs to be attached to a TV via hdmi, or a projector also hdmi, but all the creative work will be done on the new desktop, and just presented on the laptop.

So besides price, what would be the advantage of going pro over air, or air over pro?
Also if we go pro, which is the way we are leaning, which is the best powercord to get, the 67W or 96W? I have seen some suggestions that if your laptop is plugged in for an extensive time, then the 67W is the better way to go as the 97W can wear out your battery faster.

Thanks,
Mary

In your case, going with MBP 14 is a no brainer I think, because it has a built in hdmi 2.0 port. As to the charger, 67W should be fine, unless you'll use it unplugged for a long time, and need to recharge it as fast as possible.

If you are just using it for presentations, and don't need the better screen, the Air has the advantage of being lighter, smaller, battery lasts longer, for less cost. I have a 14" MBP and it is quite chunky. Depends if carrying it to presentations is important to you. With the Air you need an HDMI dongle that you don't forget!

I have the 67W charger with my 14" MBP, and charges quite quickly, I think it is fine. (In fact, I often charge it with just a 20W iPad charger, which takes about 4 hours). Only need the 96W if you want the fastest charging possible. The 96W charger is more bulky.

Need for HDMI gravitates towards the MBP 14. Just more convenient not needing a dongle.

Plus, you’ll find yourself really enjoying the mini-LED screen if you’re like me.
