Hey everyone,

I've noticed this just the last couple of days. I thought it was only for one program, but now I've tested it is whenever I type any character into the search bar.

Not sure what it's called, but the magnifying glass next to the time, when I click it and type any character eg. 'a' the Mac will hang for a second and then close all applications and "refresh" with a blue screen to the desktop.

Any ideas why?

Thankyou

That is the Spotlight search feature.

Try following this to reindex Spotlight. Drag your Macintosh HD drive into and then back out of the Spotlight preferences privacy tab and that will force a reindex.

Thanks for letting me know what it's called, couldn't think of the name :p

That has seemed to have fixed the problem, after doing the above and restarting I can now use the Spotlight without crashing.

Cheers Weaselboy for the quick and accurate reply.
