I have read rumors that the newer MacBook Air SuperDrive (The 2010 Model Number: MC684ZM/A) can be recognized by Windows 7 without hardware mods or software mods.
Allegedly it will read discs, but no confirmation if it will burn discs as well.
It still is only recognized by the MacBook Air or Mac mini in OS X.

Since my two hacked MacBook Air SuperDrive (The 2009 Model Number: MB397G/A) are still working perfectly on my MacPro, MacBook, iBook, and VAIO after three years, I haven't needed to test the newer SuperDrive; the 2010 version (new version) now has an integrated controller that cant be removed (rendering the hack useless for the new SuperDrive).
I would like to know if this is either gospel or apocryphal.
If this is true, it would be an option for Windows 7 running in Boot Camp or for a PC.
