Just wondering if anyone from Canada knows if there’s any retailer in Canada that you can a upgrade a MacBook Air 2018 besides Apple? All I can find is 128/8 & 256/8. I know I can go to Apple but I have a bestbuy cc and can pay in monthly payments then to shed out $3000 out front.

1.6 Ghz i5
16 GB ram
1.5 TB SSD
English keyboard

Total = $3,239.00 + 13% sales tax in Ontario, Canada = $3,660 CAD.

I would just get a external SSD drive. 1.5 TB upgrade is not worth that money.

If you make the purchase with the BB credit card from a non-BB store, wouldn't the interest be huge? I thought the interest-free payment option was only for purchases made from BB itself: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/bbycard.aspx?CheckCookies=1
Yea but I was just wondering if there was because some retailers have cards for financing. I’m more likely getting the t from BB but I had some things happen over the holiday that took a lot of the money for me buying it from Apple. My current laptop is falling apart and slower then molasses so I need one. I have a external HD so I’m gonna have to stick with the 8/256 if bestbuy/staples are only option for financing.

I would just get a usb-c hub with some extra ports and a small external SSD drive. 1.5 TB upgrade is not worth that amount of money.
I only wanted to upgrade to 16/512 but sucks only in Canada we have 2 options unlike the US.

It looks like Best Buy’s options for MacBook Air are limited in the US too. But the Apple Canada website is showing 256, 512, and 1.5 TB options with either 8 or 16GB of RAM.

Actually that's a better deal than we can get here in the US. $3000 CAD = $2260 USD. And the top MBA costs $2600 at the US Apple store. ;)

But still... $2600 for a MacBook Air? Yikes!
to price is actually $3,239.00 CAD before tax. There are no provinces in Canada that doesn't have some sort of sales tax.

Looking at current rates, $3,239 CAD = $2,439 USD.

It’s 13% in Ontario so it’s $3,660 which is $2,755 US and bestbuy and staples are only retailer I believe that has financing. Seems like every store around Ontario doesn’t even have stock.

Well... whatever. My point was simply that you cannot directly compare $3000 CAD to $3000 USD, and I could go to Canada and buy a Mac for less than here in the US. And yes, we also pay sales tax on top of Apple's advertised prices. It's 7% in my state, even more if you live in New York.

I'm not 100% sure but I have had items shipped to Delaware by online retailers and I never had to pay state taxes. If this is applicable to Apple products, it's one way to save a bit without traveling to Canada.

My suggestion: come visit your neighbours to the north :)

Yeah, Delaware is only about an hour's drive for me so I can go there and avoid tax. B&H Photo used to be tax free for me also, until they opened a warehouse in NJ. Anyway, that's all beside the point. I was only commenting on @CE3 post regarding "$3000 for a MacBook Air?".

But I love Canada and look forward to returning. I travelled there a number of times for business before retiring and worked on cooperative projects with Canadian companies. And what many of us pay for health insurance down here would cover the cost of a few new Macs every year. :)

I know people in Toronto who buy from B&H even with the terrible exchange rate because the same item in Canada is still more expensive than having to pay shipping and duties for B&H items.

I personally love San Francisco. I have family in the Bay Area which helps to cut down on hotel expenses:D
