I'm think of replacing my Ipad Air 1 with a MacBook Air 13" model, the MacBook will be used like the Ipad with the exception of having a true OS and I will be using it for Ham Radio related software. Best buy has the latest model for $849 128gb but only 4gb of ram, which I think what I will be doing will be ok, but looking for opinions on the price and the amount of Ram.

According to this price guide, that is the best price around on a new one.

For your described usage you will be just fine with 4GB of RAM.
