Hi Everyone,

Was just curious what your experience has been with the dual core in the base model air? I’ve seen threads and reviews where people say this enough for most applications (on a day to day basis), and others that say it starts to spin and beach ball after you get too many tabs going in Safari.

My usage is pretty “light” in that is primarily music, word, safari, but I would like to be able to connect an interface and record some instruments into Garageband.

Is it too much to expect the air to handle some light Garageband recording/editing?

Microcenter had a few MacBook Airs open-box for like $780 (current model, base), so that’s what I was considering it!

Thanks so much,

Mike

I use Lightroom and other things with mine. Yes, I would love a pro, but the air is perfect. I have a iMac that does heavy lifting.

I think you'll be very happy. Mine is fantastic! I find it really snappy in day to day use. MS Office-apps, Google SketchUp, photo editing, browsing, Netflix, Spotify, et.c. works like a charm even with only 8GB of RAM. Haven't tried Garageband, however.

The only thing that really slowed down mine was GoPro video editing in iMovie. Probably not the best laptop for video editing, but other than that it handles everything with ease.
